NaPoWriMo – Day 4

Day 4

Prompt:  Iain-M-Banks-like names for spaceships. Write a poem with a title drawn from one of these spaceship names

I chose to write a poem made mostly of spaceship names.

I’ve decided to hold a big party

In anticipation of a lover’s new arrival

And here’s my new toy – unacceptable behaviour

It’s my party and I’ll sing if I want to

Singing plays up to my vanity

Causes a momentary lapse of sanity

I’m thorough, but unreliable – charming, but irrational

Another fine product from the nonsense factory

I was fine till you came along

Big sexy beast of no fixed abode

No more Mr Nice Guy – too much nervous energy

Now you’re someone else’s problem, kiss this then

I have questionable ethics

A fine disregard for awkward facts

I smile tolerantly; warm, considering lasting damage

Wisdom, like silence, not invented here

I made an honest mistake

Killing time, heavy messing

Now look what you’ve made me do, you naughty monsters

You’ll clean that up before you leave

Now, turning to reason, and it’s just sweetness

Sense amidst madness, wit amidst folly

Mistake not the messenger of truth

Total internal reflection, hence the fortress

Beats working!
