Love Yourself

When you no longer make their heart skip faster
And “I love you” sounds forced and cheap
Perhaps it’s time to forge ahead
Before you fall in too deep

When you no longer raise a smile at the door
And the twinkle has started to rust
Perhaps it is time to stay, “Farewell”
Before you fade to dust

When you no longer know what your own mind thinks
And feel you have gone to ground
Perhaps it is time to remember the ‘you’
The one who needs to be found

When you no longer put their loving first
And start looking out for yourself
Perhaps you should take a long hard look
At the options on your shelf

Then when you discover the oneness of self
And you’re ready to come out to play
Perhaps you’ll feel ready to share your soul
With another, who’s worthy, some day
